EXPOSITION
Photobooks 2025
August 15 to September 13, 2025
Schedule at reseaubibliogim.qc.ca
As it has for the past ten years, Les Rencontres de la photographie en Gaspésie is dedicating an exhibition to the photobook, shining a light on the richness and diversity of this singular medium.
Through the book-as-object, artists are able to craft a unique visual language, tell stories, explore original editorial forms, and offer collectors and enthusiasts alike an intimate and lasting window into their worlds. A photobook is not merely a vessel — it is a complete artwork, thoughtfully conceived from the sequencing of images to the choice of paper, format, and binding. It is an artistic gesture in its own right.
Since 2015, we’ve been devoted to building a living collection of such works. Each year, we add to this collection and donate it to the Gabrielle-Bernard-Dubé Library as a gift to the community. This archive, available for on-site consultation, serves as a tangible record of our invited artists and their creative journeys — a cultural legacy accessible to all.
Artists’ Works – 2025 Edition
As part of the 2025 edition, Les Rencontres presents a new exhibition dedicated to photobooks published by this year’s invited artists. The selection reflects a diversity of approaches, narratives, and formats chosen by the photographers, and stands as testimony to the vitality of the photobook as a space of freedom, experimentation, and exchange.
