The aCCCumulation exhibition presents a collective undertaking by Michel Campeau, Bertrand Carrière and Serge Clément. Made up of over 300 portraits drawn from the personal archives of the three photographers – friends for close to 40 years – this installation-work embodies a reflection on a common past – a friendship, a photographic community and an era in the history of photography in Québec.

The pictures are the incarnation of an environment that emerged in Québec in the 1970s and for which photography was a point of convergence, even a mobilizing force. Alongside these three protagonists can be seen other characters – photographers, artists, cultural workers, friends and family – who have taken part in this connection of ideas and practices over the past four decades.

Presented for the first time in 2015 as part of a joint exhibition at Galerie Simon Blais, the work, enlarged today by some forty pictures, is being exhibited a second time as a way of celebrating the theme of the encounter in photography.

The works of Michel Campeau stretch across the last five decades of contemporary photography. They’ve recently been presented at the McCord Museum in Montreal and at Centre Pompidou in Paris. Michel Campeau has been the subject of a number of publications. In 2009 he received the Jean-Paul-Riopelle Career Grant from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. He is represented by Galerie Simon Blais in Montreal and by Galerie Éric Dupont in Paris.

The work of Serge Clément has been featured in individual exhibits in various countries in Europe as well as in Hong Kong and in Canada.
