As part of the 2026 Journées de la culture, we’re pleased to invite you to a screening of the Daniela Mujica film Tina: art, amour et révolution on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Studio du Quai des arts (774 boulevard Perron, Carleton-sur-Mer, Québec, Canada).
In partnership with the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA), Cinétoile, Vaste et Vague Artist Centre and Rencontres, this screening is free and open to the public.
About the film
Tina: art, amour et révolution is a feature-length documentary blending animation and archival footage that traces the tumultuous life of the Italian photographer and revolutionary activist Tina Modotti. From Italy to Mexico, by way of the United States, her path intersects with artists like Frida Kahlo and Edward Weston.
Between creation, love and political commitment, the film portrays the extraordinary journey of a woman who never distinguished between art and life. A sensitive portrait of an engaged figure, long silenced, questioning the power of the image in relation to history.
About the director
Daniela Mujica is an award-winning producer – honored at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the Prix Gémeaux – with extensive experience in project financing from the perspective of both funders and production companies. Over her career she’s developed expertise in providing artistic and financial support for projects, from conception through distribution.
In 2020 she founded her own company, Productions Ocho, and in November 2020 co-founded Coalition M.É.D.I.A., an organization dedicated to representing francophone Indigenous, Afro-descendant and racialized producers and creators in Canada. She currently sits on the boards of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, Coalition M.É.D.I.A., Doc Québec and Doc Canada, and serves on several juries.
Journées de la culture
Initiated and coordinated by Culture pour tous, Journées de la culture consists of free activities open to everyone that promote greater access for the public to arts and culture. As enacted by the National Assembly, the event takes place every year across Québec on the last Friday of September and the two days thereafter.
