From July 15 to September 30, 2026, Rencontres de la photographie en Gasp\u00e9sie returns for its 17th edition on the theme\u00a0WANDERINGS<\/strong><\/em>. Through 13 exhibitions presented across the Gasp\u00e9 Peninsula, the festival invites audiences on a true artistic journey, featuring around 20 artists from Qu\u00e9bec, Canada and abroad.<\/strong> From towns to national parks, spanning hundreds of kilometers<\/strong>, the works unfold along the landscape and through encounters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launching this year\u2019s program, the exhibition\u00a0In the Eye of the Beluga<\/em>\u00a0by Gaspesian artist Maryse Goudreau will open early on July 2 at Mus\u00e9e Le Chafaud in Perc\u00e9.<\/strong> A unique opportunity to experience, in preview, a sensitive and deeply rooted body of work.<\/p>\n\n\n

Join us for an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m.<\/strong>, where you will have the opportunity to meet the artist and the exhibition curator, and experience this poetic and thought-provoking body of work in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2192 The exhibition<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Over the past twelve years, Maryse Goudreau has dedicated a body of work to the beluga whale<\/strong>. Committed to following the species in its slow decline, the Gaspesian artist<\/strong> has created a series of photographic, sound, literary and sculptural works that cast an empathetic eye on this sentinel of climate change in the North.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an exhibition dedicated to young audiences<\/strong>, she revisits this corpus with the eyes of a child, creating immersive works where birth and extinction coexist, drawing on her lifelong love of the animal to feel her way through a mixture of hope and mourning. No\u00e9mie Fortin is an \u00a0independent curator and author based in the Eastern Townships. Attuned to \u00a0practices rooted in ecofeminist thinking, she accompanies artistic, \u00a0agricultural and community practices focused on caring for the living. This exhibit is presented in partnership with Galerie Foreman, Mus\u00e9e Le Chafaud, the Vaste et Vague artist center and Rencontres with support from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
