EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

Installations and exhibits

Launches of all installations and exhibits in the region will take place simultaneously on July 6. These will be presented until September 10, 2012, in the 14 host municipalities on the Gaspé Peninsula: Cap-Chat, Marsoui, Rivière-à-Claude, Grande-Vallée, Gaspé, Percé, Chandler, Paspébiac, Bonaventure, New Richmond, Maria, Carleton-sur-Mer, Nouvelle, and Matapedia.

Professional week

The professional week, meanwhile, which brings together all the photographers, will run from August 18 to 25, 2012. That week will be a unique opportunity to meet – at projections, workshops and lectures – the more than 30 professional and emerging photographers from the Gaspésie, other parts of Québec, elsewhere in Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

Get-togethers around creation

For this 3rd edition, ten photo projections will be staged on various buildings or attractions, with the guest photographers in attendance. This original formula for the general public allows for extraordinary get-togethers among visitors, the photographers and the local population, who are seeing the facilities in their municipalities used as they have never been before, in the service of art.

Very special settings for communion between artist and audience, the public events make it possible for the artists to convey the nature of their work, however short-lived the activity. The photographic lecture-discussions, for their part, enable the public to learn about the photographers’ artistic approaches, and in that way arrive at a better understanding of photography generally.
